Merger Becoming Reality
A merger between the Grand Traverse Heritage Center and the Traverse Area Historical Society is becoming a reality. A new board of directors has been voted in, by-laws combined and paperwork is being completed to further the merger.

Old Fashioned Heritage Days for Students
[ September 16, 2010 9:00 am to September 18, 2010 1:00 pm. ] Area 4th grade students will enjoy educational re-enactments by Civil War groups, Metis camps, loggers, rope makers and more. If you are a teacher, please contact the Heritage Center to reserve your space.
In Memory of Supporter Dick Marr
Richard Marr, who supported the efforts of the Heritage Center, passed away at age 79 in March. WDick was a great resource for the center and most recently served on our Community Advisory Committee. He was also an active member of SCORE in Traverse City.
We will miss him and will remember his wonderful support.
Founder of “The Haig” Golf Tournament Passes Away
Dr. Joseph Gadbaw, the founder of the Grand Traverse Heritage Center’s “The Haig” golf tournament has died. Dr. Gadbaw was present at this year’s 7th annual tournament in June and shot the first ball off the tee to start the game.

Festival of Trains Poster Contest Winners Announced!
Local children were invited to enter their artwork for the 2009 Festival of Trains poster contest sponsored by the Grand Traverse Heritage Center!
Two winning posters were selected and those are serving as the official posters of the 2009 Festival of Trains. They will be displayed at businesses throughout the region.

Center’s Community Room Receiving Facelift;Thanks to Donations
The Grand Traverse Heritage Center’s lobby area, stairway and Community Room is receiving a fresh facelift thanks to local donors. Drywall has been put over the cinder blocks in the community room and a fresh coat of paint is being painted on the stairwell, walls and lobby area.

Lori Puckett has been named the new Executive Director of the Grand Traverse Heritage Center. Puckett succeeds Patti DeAgostino who has returned to the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
